An interest rate hike seems to be on the cards for April.
The consumer price index has hit a five year high at 9,8%. If you take in account the oil price, rand and electricity price hike, this number will probably increase.
This is bad news for people with home loans and those trying to get into the property market. Since June 2006 the interest rate has gone up by 400 basis points to 14,5% and this has increased payments to almost 30% more than they were.

It would seem that there is an interest in Cape Town property. People are starting to realize that if you own a rentable property in Cape Town you can get great returns when 2010 arrives.
There has been reports of an influx of business people and over seas visitors that want to rent property for the 2010 world cup. It goes without saying that Sea Point/Green Point, where the stadium is, is becoming more popular by the day.
