Hi Michelle

Thank you for the comment. My advice is that you seek legal expertise regarding this issue. The laws that deal with usufruct are constantly under review and you need an expert to look at your specific situation and help you make the right decisions for you. If you need assistance in finding the right legal expertise I will gladly email details to you.

My husband has recently died and left the property to my 2 children and given me usufruct of the property. He has stipulated that I only have usufruct until 2025. Can he do that or does usufruct mean I have full use of the property until I die?

I'd appreciate your reply,
Michelle Ryder-Taylor

Prepaid meter should be written in law, because the tenant will see real time what he is using, the landlord will get his electricity money, the Council will get there money and so Eskom will be paid as well. It makes the collection easier and there are no write off by Councils.

I've seen the concept of two-weekly payments in a newspaper, is there a calculator that will help to see the effect of it? The article explained that a 20 year bond is repaid in just over 7 years...

I just found out that a registerd sex offender lives next door. He was convited of child molestation. I have two children, one girl and boy ages 11 to 8. Does that qualify as a good reason to cancell a rental lease contract?
